File retention

How long a file stays online depends on whether it was uploaded with an account.

Uploaded without an account

Guest files remain online for the configured inactivity period of 90 days after upload or their latest qualifying activity.

The inactivity period restarts when:

• A file is downloaded
• An image is viewed on its Uploadir file page
• An image is loaded through a direct preview or hotlink

For direct image hotlinks, activity protects the file from deletion but does not increase its visible download count.

Uploaded with an account

Files uploaded while signed in do not expire because of inactivity.

They remain available until deleted by their owner, unless removal is required for abuse, legal or security reasons.

Removed files

Files may still be removed if they:

• Are deleted by their owner
• Break Uploadir’s terms
• Are reported and found to contain prohibited content
• Must be removed for legal or security reasons
